Suggestion:Mod election system

deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago

We all know mods are been suggesting by the other mods etc

So what about a new system to elect new moderators A new section in the forums where all moderator applications will be posted and on those applications Epicmafia can vote on so its more fair choosing the mod for epicmafia by the players of epicmafia

So its -1 votes or +1 votes with a reason why you downvote or upvote This will highly stop mods suggesting only friends

A mod should be choosed by the players of epicmafia and not the mods themselves

Current template i thought up

Main account:(Whats your main account)

Alternate accounts:(Your alternate accounts)

Why would you be a good mod(explanition why you be a good mod)

What would you do if three poeple gets into a fight with eachother(explaining how you would handle it)

Do you have any prior experience being a mod?

Did you contribute something to the community

Your timezone:

Langauges you speak(sometimes there are games with other langauges but very uncommonly)

Age:(how old are you in real life)

HEY LOOK A TEMPLATE^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

publicly "running for moderator" has always been something i shame people for because i think anyone who wants it that bad probably isn't the sort of person who should be on the team, or at the very least it's a red flag.
Surprisingly, I agree with you, when it comes to individual cases anyways.
In case of a real election I don't think the same thing applies.

Yes. STV is essentially FPTP, but with preferences on top. Say there are 15 candidates. You can put as many or as few into preferences as you like (first preference, second preference, third preference).

Then all the first preferences are added up. Person X is eliminated as they got the least votes. Everyone who voted for Person X now has their second preference counted instead. This keeps going til you have the amount of winning candidates that you require.

STV means if you have say 10 candidates, you select a ranked list of them, your top 1 gets 1 vote UNLESS he doesn't get enough in total to win the election at which point your votes slide to candidate #2 and that process continues until votes finally settle on the winning candidate.

[STV]

Vote X

IF X is eliminated; vote Y
IF Y is eliminated; vote Z

Etc etc. Preferably in the ways that don't involve nestled if's.

It's a bit more complicated than that, there are several rounds I believe:

STV is much more fun, because you could just eliminate the lowest member each time, and therefore you could televise it with drumrolls for more anticipation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_transferable_vote

The ultimate voting system should be used, always. (Also the easiest to code after FPTP)
Yeah, a variation of that would work as well. The only thing is that I don't think voters should have to rank every candidate, just their top 10 choices or so.

tldr for single transferable vote?
