Suggestion:Mod election system

deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago

We all know mods are been suggesting by the other mods etc

So what about a new system to elect new moderators A new section in the forums where all moderator applications will be posted and on those applications Epicmafia can vote on so its more fair choosing the mod for epicmafia by the players of epicmafia

So its -1 votes or +1 votes with a reason why you downvote or upvote This will highly stop mods suggesting only friends

A mod should be choosed by the players of epicmafia and not the mods themselves

Current template i thought up

Main account:(Whats your main account)

Alternate accounts:(Your alternate accounts)

Why would you be a good mod(explanition why you be a good mod)

What would you do if three poeple gets into a fight with eachother(explaining how you would handle it)

Do you have any prior experience being a mod?

Did you contribute something to the community

It doesn't really matter if this increases or decreases "us vs them" mentality because the community wants it, the community is the site, mods are just the internet equivalent of highschool dropouts plying a living by cleaning up vomit with sawdust.

the "us vs them" has only existed because a few people in the community have circulated that exists.
Lmao. I watched it, specifically, in mod chats. Whether it be certain former moderators arguing that reports pranay made should be dealt with more harshly; or other former mods playing games with their bypassing friends because 'they don't care what the community thinks', or even more former mods digging through specific users games in order to find reasons to give them violations.
you're saying that exists now? how is a community vote not going to increase the chances of that happening either?
A community vote where people can get struck down if they do badly is going to force mods to become part of the community; whether they like it or not. Because if they separate themselves from it, they won't get voted. It's pretty simple.

Yeah, it might lower the quality of mods. But if it's combined with a general reduction in power/importance of mods and a laxening of the overly restrictive rules there are these days, I think that's fine.

I don't know whether it still happens now - I'm not active anymore - but from what I've seen on the forums; I'd guess yes.

Croned
The current system is even more of a popularity contest than a site-wide voting system would be. All that would be required for a mod candidate to have a significant advantage with the current system would be to have support from several moderators (even less than half).
croned is correct. also, letting it to community opinion could arguably make being modded more relevant to skill, as people would be correcting for poor reporting etc. it'd arguably be far superior, tbh. people file reports a lot, don't they? where is the argument that those people don't care about how well reports are handled coming from? mods electing mods, however, is very obviously clearly possibly just the makings of a circlejerk. accountability, bros.

How about we trust the person that made this site in the first place?
believe it or not I'm actually not inclined to think that someone who pokes his head into this community briefly once every eon knows what's best for it. certainly not better than people who have been persistent, key members of it for long periods of time

also, if an admin in the mod chat puts up with that they should be removed and replaced

lucid said the ratings will be for 'inactivity, toxic personality, or bad decision making'. so a person will give a review citing one of these things. people can read it and agree/disagree with it and thus the review will get more or less weight. if a mod is being reviewed badly because some people do not like him, other non biased parties can reduce the weight of the review. success!

you know what, wtf are we arguing about. if lucid has the right mentality, why dont we just let him decide and not other mods?? theres a reason why we have to message lucid and sims...
no one is being rude when arguing why they believe an automated system is a bad idea, just giving their opinions. i don't see why you have an issue with this
I have an issue because just recently I've seen unjustified moderator action "-.-. And since apparently my explanation can be brought down, why don't we just agree on having the owner of the site decide the stuff for the site instead of continuing this aimless topic.

that's literally a basic template with basic questions that can be asked about any job and i'm pretty sure everyone of those questions is on the current application thing, idk why you're making such a big deal about a sub par application that isn't different than the current one
