We all know mods are been suggesting by the other mods etc
So what about a new system to elect new moderators
A new section in the forums where all moderator applications will be posted and on those applications Epicmafia can vote on so its more fair choosing the mod for epicmafia by the players of epicmafia
So its -1 votes or +1 votes with a reason why you downvote or upvote
This will highly stop mods suggesting only friends
A mod should be choosed by the players of epicmafia and not the mods themselves
Current template i thought up
Main account:(Whats your main account)
Alternate accounts:(Your alternate accounts)
Why would you be a good mod(explanition why you be a good mod)
What would you do if three poeple gets into a fight with eachother(explaining how you would handle it)
Do you have any prior experience being a mod?
Did you contribute something to the community
Your timezone:
Langauges you speak(sometimes there are games with other langauges but very uncommonly)
Age:(how old are you in real life)

and im emphasizing how modding should be a responsibility to make things fair for the players after being selectively chosen to do so. i agree with you, and thats why im applying too. i saw another mod a few pages back emphasize "Without pay." and that lowered my view of mods.

Given that most reports aren't done from the in-game report system: almost impossible.
Separate red and gold heart reports. Give the admin the power to choose his or her mods for gold reports/cheating, let the community decide who can mod the red heart reports. This also gives the admin a look at how community chosen mods handle reports and can give him or her a better idea of who to mod
Shamelessly bumping this. Not only would it reduce the workload for rounds and help mods catch cheaters faster (because they wouldn't have to deal with three reports on someone mislynching in fancy pants) but it seems like a pretty fair compromise for people who want the admin to choose and those who want a more democratic approach.
this is a good suggestion

The only issue is I don't know how hard it would be to separate the report systems (I know nothing about coding)

You should support this, Kyle, it could be your chance to finally get modded.
Though you'd have to stick around long enough and get the community to like you, so maybe not. ;)

Voting =/= Making it into a reward. It's allowing everyone to select candidates they think will be good mods.

Wheres lucid when you need em
deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago
again, making modding into a "reward" rather than volunteer service (which it is) will gather the completely wrong demographic for modding.

No. Mods should be users with special powers. They are not 'above' users, and those who think they are are generally pretty terrible mods.
separate =/= above. different rooms, not layer cake.
They're not separate. They (should) abide by the same rules as the community; play the same games as the community; post on the same forums as the community; and respect people who are part of the same community.
Then again, I suppose the fact this is an American site is a big drawback there, given that the police don't seem to do those same things in America; whilst doing it perfectly capably in Europe.

In an ideal world Custom Lobbies would function with the people you want and there'd be no need for mods because everyone is nice and forgiving and also good at the game.

the solution to a lack of mods isn't to let anyone popular mod.

deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago
what exactly about making modding a popularity contest makes sense? the more you incentivize modding as a status upgrade and power play, the less good mods you will get. this will lead to nightmare mod choices.
The current circle jerk isn't much better tbh.

It's not just the Senate, it's the Senate and the People of Rome.
