Suggestion:Mod election system

deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago

We all know mods are been suggesting by the other mods etc

So what about a new system to elect new moderators A new section in the forums where all moderator applications will be posted and on those applications Epicmafia can vote on so its more fair choosing the mod for epicmafia by the players of epicmafia

So its -1 votes or +1 votes with a reason why you downvote or upvote This will highly stop mods suggesting only friends

A mod should be choosed by the players of epicmafia and not the mods themselves

Current template i thought up

Main account:(Whats your main account)

Alternate accounts:(Your alternate accounts)

Why would you be a good mod(explanition why you be a good mod)

What would you do if three poeple gets into a fight with eachother(explaining how you would handle it)

Do you have any prior experience being a mod?

Did you contribute something to the community

Your timezone:

Langauges you speak(sometimes there are games with other langauges but very uncommonly)

Age:(how old are you in real life)

HEY LOOK A TEMPLATE^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Man. Imagine having 10 pages of serious conversation and brainstorming in an ABC topic.

i'm open to mod elections as an experiment, if only to prove that it won't change anything. people have never been happy with the mods and they never will be, and i don't think making it a popular vote will change that.

It's a popularity contest either way, so ehhh.
exactly, so why not automate it and just have 2-3 admin positions overseeing the process

also, while we're at it, a lot of the mod keys either don't work properly, don't exist (for example BAN FROM REPORTS) or are redundant

To Implement this you need to make sure that people with more than 10k points in gold hearts are the only ones that are allowed to vote. And only the main accounts. Otherwise the vote system will be abused.

and suddenly, lucid disappeared, for too much was asked of him at once. and lo, the clouds did cover the sun once more, and the people of epicmafia were cast into darkness for another twelve months.

The plan of this system seems quite real and prob not too hard to be built. And also it could standalone and run by itself - when person gets most points - he gets added by one of current mod. And it repeats
Why would you mod somoene when it isnt needed
Sims could have a toggle on/off switch.

Ban from reports would be a GOD SEND.

honestly we should prioritize the most essential things first.

like how my music keeps toggling on every time i open my browser n join a game of epicmafia
and the color wheel for colored text
colour wheel = people pick bright yellow to hurt ur eyes

We should compile these basic systems into a poll and then vote on them.

literally nothing needs to built, only a thread made, to have the perfect voting system
This right here and then sticky the highest rated mod apps

list of tabs necessary for handling reports efficiently:

[the report, the player's profile for previous violations, the player's mod action page for suspending], the moderator page for writing suspension reason, the game(s) in question.

the first three can easily have features built into the report itself

Borda Count System
inferior. successive voting is where it's at, and such a small and dynamic community makes perfect allowance for it

If only it's possible to connect Foxie Box and the election system, then it'll be possible to regulate the fairness of election. Well, kind of. One ID(person) could vote only once then(again, most of times), alts votes wouldn't count. I guess there are a couple of ways to build the system: 1) active moderators select from 5 to 10(or more) candidates and people vote for their favorite. The only uncontrollable thing there would be that mods could select their friends as candidates. But if you increase the number of candidates to 15(20) - then mods cant set all their friends as candidates. Of course moderators couldnt candidate their alts + they should go on the agreement about the candidates. Here is the example how it would work: moderators, for instance, together agree about 20 candidates and sends the list to admin(Sims) , who adds their nicknames in the system of election and people can then vote for any of them 20. The candidate with most points wins and becomes a mod. This system could be run, for example, every month or when one or more mod have to leave. This is a quick example of possible system, has its pros and cons of course, but for me it seems possible. Ill try to create another system if i have time
