So basically, one huge issue this site has is simplicity for newer players. Upon joining an unranked game, which new players are forced to do, you face a couple different situations, all basically bad. You either join a game with a -ton of random roles that is a clusterfuck and scares the player away. Or you might join a game with a bunch of veterans who do stuff without an explanation which just confuses the new player, and likely drives them away. Or you join an unranked game with a bunch of other noobs who have no clue what they're doing and screw it up. In all situations, new players seem to have a tough road ahead of them. It's only the players who are smart and patient enough to learn about the site that will actually end up staying.
So, my proposal is this: Have a beginner lobby, where players are automatically sent to upon joining the site. There they can join one of the couple allowed setups (simple ones) and join a game. Simultaneously, the game will also have a couple of slots for veterans. Essentially, veterans with over 100 games played, may join the beginner lobby and join games. They can join the game, help the new players understand it, and so on. What do the veterans gain from it? Every 25 beginner games a veteran helps out in, they get 1 token (something along those lines)
This whole system encourages veterans to help out, helps new players understand the site, and I think it'd work. I want harsh critique. kThxBye
That's why I decided to post this. I tried introducing the site to some friends, and they found it too complicated or boring for reasons I stated in the OP.
Ah yes, you're losing patience with the people who haven't played as many games. In other words: you, an old player, get upset at a new player for being new. That sounds exactly like the sort of mentality I described.
tbh that's just human nature though, and most human beings are like that
We're just going back and forth here... is it that hard to understand what I'm saying? You made this statement before and I explained it. Now you're saying the same statement again like I haven't explained where I'm coming from
It's not events that I remember. I'm sorry but I don't take time remembering the names of new players that I help in mafia nights. I'm just saying what I usually do when I'm mafia. If I have over 1000 games on this account then I'm pretty sure I would remember how I am as mafia

They ask.. "who should I hook" ... Then I'd say hook this person and tell them its random since its the first night. Most of my games with new players are not lost because they dont "understand" it... its because they do stupid sh*t that not even they can explain themselves. This is all being ignored and I'm being told I'm basically a jerk for reacting to it. Nothing will improve like this.
i think the mentor system could do a bit more than it's doing now, unfortunately i became a mentor when i have almost no free time, so i can't find out if i was right or wrong all along.
I agree but not sure how it would be revitalized. Not sure if it's something I should even give an opinion on since I'm not a mentor so.

telling someone to do x isn't really teaching them anything. and it could explain why they might not hook the pr role they're suppose to hook on say night 2. because they don't really understand the role.

That's "burn the witch" logic. That has nothing to do with new players.
I can't check my past games but its not hard to find a mafia game where I said these things... so like you said how about we all cut the sh*t and stop acting like everyone thats supporting this is a monster that rages at new players. We're doing this because we think its beneficial for them.
