This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.
Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.
Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.
NOTE: If you're here to complain about Sandbox moderation or the site mods, please don't.
It's an apprentice and a current consigliere combined. There are too many roles.
Just like Diabolist should not exist because Voodoo, Trapper with Ceptor, Snowman with Drunk and Hooker, Surgeon with Trapper and Bodyguard, President with Celebrity and Civilian, Justice with Mistletoe (even if he's town), etc.
Then there are stupid roles like Cutler that have no use in the game and add no new mechanics, knives are not a good item because guns are much more effective and have more interactions. Besides, all new mafia roles (Heartbreaker, Filibuster, Prosecutor) are flawed and don't bring nothing new either.
Associate, Slasher, Nurse, Confused Cop, and a bunch of investigative roles: Psychic, Justice (and Penguin if you consider it) etc. are not needed.
Monkey is overpowered driver and again, adds nothing new because even if the whole changing visits is not on any role, it's just a mix of Driver plus Roleblocker and performing the action someone else does isn't benefitial for any alignment anyways.
Cyborg and Zombie are other unnecessary conversion roles.
And then there's Huntsman and Trickster but I think it's obvious they're not needed.
I have checked and deleting unnecessary roles I think there could be 120 roles, instead of the 162 there are now. I wouldn't add the role Director myself, but since there are a bunch of mechanics that I don't even know because there are too many, it would be useful now.
- Can visit one person every night. - Hides that person's visit.
Consigliere
- Attends mafia meetings, but cannot vote. - Becomes a Mafia once last mafia alive. - Appears as Villager when investigated until then. - Sided with the mafia.

Widow
- If lynched, votes will be disabled the following day. - Sided with the mafia.
LockSmith (Open to name suggestions) • Visits one person every night and locks their door. (Like after they come home) • A character with a locked door can still visit, but no one can perform actions on them. • Sided with the village https://epicmafia.com/role/12866
Bouncer • Visits one person every night and prevents them from being visited. • The character can continue to visit, but no one can perform actions on them • Does not attend mafia meeting. • Sided with the mafia. https://epicmafia.com/role/15743
These are made for Main Lobby more so than Sandbox, especially the Bouncer role (Which I acknowledge may become very overpowered in Sandbox).
Genie •Can choose one person at the start of the game. •That person can ask for a wish whenever necessary. •Each time he asks for a wish, it has the potential to go wrong. (60% 80% 90%? You can get more specific on the percentages later) •Every consecutive wish increases the chance of a wish going wrong. •Wins if their owner dies by a wish and they become free. https://epicmafia.com/role/15760
Another role I thought of (PLEASE ADD THE DELEGATE):
Megalomaniac
• Appears to self as random town-sided role from the current setup. • If that role would normally have a meeting, the Megalomaniac also has that role's meeting. • Any effects that would be caused by the imitated role's passive abilities or meetings do not actually happen (for example, if the Megalomaniac appeared to themselves as Gunsmith, the Gunsmith meeting would not give the selected player a gun, and if the Megalomaniac appeared to themselves as Virgin, being lynched would not trigger the Virgin effect). • Appears as Megalomaniac on death/lynch. • Sided with the village.
This has potential, but I think it needs some revisions. Also, maybe call it a Lunatic instead of a Moonstone so the item and role don't get confused (Lunatic comes from the word Luna meaning Moon, of course.) I'm not too sure about your Vampire role since it doesn't seem unique enough to warrant another converting third; in my opinion, conversion should be an afterthought for a Vampire role. The idea of Moon phases sounds pretty good in my opinion, should probably be added to every Mafia game. Other roles could manipulate it that way, too.
Can be "pretend" converted to cult, mason, cyborg, zombie, but, is actually still sided with village even though they can end up taking part in the meetings.
The Auditor
Like the yakuza, but, the auditor kills a mafia other then themselves in order to convert a villager once per game.
The Lumberjack
Strongman like role that gets to kill once per a game at night or day, sided with village, and everyone gets a three second warning that the chainsaw is being revved when the lumberjack is about to kill someone. The person instantly dies unless lumberjack is somehow killed before the three seconds is up.
The Bully
Village sided. Visits someone at night and that person loses the ability to vote the next day, but, is still able to speak.

Alpha werewolf
If they eat someone, they convert them to alpha werewolf
Alpha werewolves meet at night
Can not eat eachother
Do not gain invincibility if they eat correctly, and don't get revealed when eat incorrectly
Win when outnumber town, sided with third party
If eat werewolf, or if werewolf eats an alpha werewolf, town is notified 'There's a full moon out tonight' (idk about this, but there should be some sort of role interaction)
