This is a dedicated thread for users to bounce around and brainstorm on ideas for new roles, items, game mechanics or anything else to improve and build upon our beloved Mafia game.
Back in 2015 Sims made a thread asking if anyone had any ideas for roles since Lucid was looking to make some new ones (found here: https://epicmafia.com/topic/71173?page=1) That thread's dead now, but it's always good to try to bring the community together and come up with new stuff for the game.
Some of you might know my reputation for designing new roles and my passion for Mafia. EpicMafia is a pretty cool website and can always use some new stuff to spice up and remix the usual game formula, and I know a few of you have ideas of your own.

Caveman
- during the day, throws a spear at two people. Those two people get binded together
- the next night, the two people share a meeting (and still have their actions)
- during the meeting, they need to decide which one of them to kill. The person who they vote for dies, and the other gets away unharmed, and caveman gets another spear the next day
- if they cant decide and both vote for eachother, there's a 50% chance to who dies, and caveman gets another spear the next day.
- if one of them dies before the meeting (e.g one is lynched) the other will die immediately, and caveman does not get another spear
So if it can copy both mafia and town that would make it third party right? And if it is third party it would make sense that it would win with what ever party it copied like.....but what about if it copies a third what happens does it become the targets role?
Mime / CopyCat / Actor / ??? (feel free to suggest a new name)
-Appears to self as villager -Copies the role of the first player to visit it -The mime will become this role and the visitor will retain the role as well
Fabricator will turn the player to fab, Vivor to vivor, Insane cop to insane cop, etc. Could be interesting seeing as though some roles (such as cops with the same sanity) meet at night.
Also if you leak something on librarian day the leaks should show as 'A whispered something to B' or people can just spam the same message over and over to get something important leaked
-When killed at night, the elder gives between 1 to 3 messages to the entire village the next day -Message will not appear if killed during the day (through bomb, gun, lynch, etc.) -Sided with the village
Dying message is a system message revealed at the morning after the Elder is killed. It'd look something like:
The wise Elder of the village whispers the following before their death: "Gobolco... visited Shamu..." "cub... is not carrying anything..."
It's like a village-wide penguin that can give the village reliable information should it be killed at night. Perhaps it can get much definitive clues too to separate it from penguin a little bit; I just put in Penguin messages to show what it would look like
With whispers being reworked and the plumber on the way, here's my own whisper-oriented mafia role: Librarian
• At night, can choose to call a meeting at the library once a game. • During the day, everyone will have to speak in whispers with no forced leak option (leaks still have their usual chance of occurring.) • Day actions (voting, guns, etc.) still happen. • Sided with the mafia.
It's a role that I thought of that tries to give off the vibe of a town/mafia infiltration. I can't tell you how viable the role is but it should be fun! Tell me what you all think!
