With all the coverage on TV and online recently, I just wanted to ask you guys a question - would you date a transgender person? Reasoning is cool, saying yes or no is cool, just don't put any dumb in the comments
Right. This sort of thing is why I can't be bothered to object to the label of heterosexuality, although I'd tentatively submit that those labels obfuscate the reality of sexual leanings. But you can't extrapolate from that anecdote that you would never wind up involving yourself with any man at any point in your life, or that the existence of a man with whom you might want to involve yourself is logically impossible.
Also I don't think it really makes you transphobic, or for that matter homophobic or whatever the case may be, but I do think it betrays a certain aversion that I consider unseemly. Not unseemly of you in particular - it's just an unfortunate culturally instilled trait.
Ive actually been in a situation when I thought I might have been gay and have feelings towards my old roomate. Like it got so close that we nearly kissed once(we were intoxicated). I realized though that I actually didnt feel any sexuall attraction and that I only really liked him as a friend. Then I got a girlfriend and I never doubted my sexuality again.
Like you can twist and turn it as much as you want, but the question boils down to if you as a person could actually commit and try to get sexually attracted to a person whom you really like as a person but still got male genitalia and perhaps male physique, I personally dont believe that I could consciously force myself to legitimately think that way nor do I think that makes me transphobic in any way.
Well I understand that the attraction itself isnt a choice but the way you act regarding that attraction is. But you cant really say that choosing whether or not you would date a transgender person with a peepee is a choice when you cant force yourself to change the attraction you feel towards females/males.
Just like a Tumblrite to ignore fault in their own actions in order to decry those of others. Believe me your change and reformation are more of a joke than even my most radical beliefs.
Being so attracted to someone that you're forced to consider disregarding a given deal breaker isn't a choice. Actually choosing to disregard the deal breaker is a choice.
Likewise, being attracted to someone of the same gender isn't a choice (or more likely, in my opinion, it's a sorta choice, i.e., one that's not made in the moment and that's heavily moderated by genetics). You make a choice when you choose to act on that attraction.
