Blacklist Classic Mafia

Blacklisting fancy pants is a freaking awesome step that you just took, mods. However, classic mafia is mechanically the exact same setup

Please please follow through with the awesome decision you have partially made and destroy the scourge that has plagued us for years instead of just one head of the hydra. Compared to what was expected, fancy pants has died with very little commotion.

Well I guess you can just let classic mafia stay and after I win an 80% w/r gold this round I'll just retire as the best ever, confident that no new player will ever touch my throne.

in an ideal world, new players would play about 3-4 different setups to start off with, but that doesn't occur naturally. what happens is that one setup - CM or FP - is just played constantly. so either try to force a good setup to become the "meme" setup (BV, B2NS, O2R, C14...) or find a way to enforce a diversity of starter setups (lucid intervention required)
b2ns and c14 are bad setups

comp players are like grandparents who are disappointed and disgusted that their grandkids don't do the same stuff that they did as kids.

i'm pessimistic though, if BV became overplayed to the level of CM/FP people will find a way to ruin it

New players just pick whatever is the easiest setup to push through to hit the point requirement. By the time that's over, they don't feel the need to advance to anything else.

Put classic mafia in sandbox with all of the other RNG "Games" ranked games are supposed to be about skill

But its hard to come up with good ideas
we already have it half way. 4p yakuza is a mafia win with 2 of the four being mafia. we just need to find a way to make the town version

orc on mafia n1 is fine for mafia because solo mafia can carry pretty easily since they don't have partner tells weighing them down. town are totally blind because there's no day 1 which is the best way to get reads
most vdli games are filled with meta buddies, so at least one town will be meta clear in most games, leaving the clear, and the meta clear, you as mafia are pretty much screwed . I trophied on vdli and it's a terrible setup because of meta buddying

in jan 2.0 there is always the lawyered mafia, the miller, etc. that puts it miles ahead of classic
i'm not saying classic is a good setup, i'm definately not saying classic is better than jan 2.0, i've never once said that. i'm a jan 2.0 legend and god, however classic is literally the fundamental stepping stone to learn the game, i played classic mafia up until i got to 1500 points then i went to comp, all i'm saying is classic is NEEDED and is a BETTER setup than FP if you are JUST starting off

If you ever want comp to be healthy again you have to kill it now. This "Christopherzilla as mod" thing is probably the last opportunity we'll ever have
If you want comp to ever be healthy, give players a reason to join comp, not just because you dismiss all other set ups and only deem certain ones "playable." That's elitism at it's finest.
If we allowed classic mafia, it wouldn't be "comp" by virtue of a 50/50 coin flip not being a competition
