Ban guns from competitive

deleteddeletedover 11 years ago

can we do this? gunsmith has been around for years and there has never been an objectively good gun setup, and thats because guns are horrible for competitive. Giving one person the ability to remove another from the game is a terrible idea for competitions and is ridiculously easy to throw games/troll with. Yeah, guns are fun but fun has never been the #1 priority for the competition and variety has never been a factor when deciding to ban the dozens of roles and setups that arent allowed to be made competitive.

the 5 minute rule is a.) dumb because balanced setups statistically show an equal chance for everyone to win no matter how long it takes and b.) thats an example of another way the spirit of competition is protected over fun.

If you run on the least popular, then yes, it probably will. That's because the least popular is almost always trash.

One person running on the second most played setup because they don't like the most played setup in fact proves that you don't need to play gun setups if you don't like them.

Not that you'd be able to run on any setup without quitting again anyway ^_~

@FoodLion: Minesweeper AKA 6Orc3Maf was actually comped once in 2010, hope this helps!

Britain, which is a lot more diverse than 'Murika because of all the immigration from the Commonwealth.
Well that and the open borders policy with the EU.

FoodLion says
they had a negative effect on people who didn't play them before in late competitive lobby where you had to run on what everyone else was playing even if it was a crappy gun setup that takes minimal skill and effort to win. this round was split between gun setup and b2ns, but round 240 just a few months ago was the same way where only the gun setup was played.
PokemonMaster. 4th place. Sweet Dreams played 52 times.

one person running on the second most played setup of the round doesnt change anything.

Minesweeper and all those things are banned based on the 5 minute rule if I'm not mistaken.
deleteddeletedover 11 years ago
Technically, Shot in the Dark is a remake of Minesweeper.

remind me not to go with mika to any ethnically-diversed country

What 'Mine' said. A&R shouldn't have been comped this round because Armed & Vested was comped 2 rounds ago, and I don't know why it was allowed given that's against the current rules as they're essentially the same setup.

5 rounds is too much though.
i asked the moderator's permission. anyways imo most rounds should feature a "fun" setup like A&R

Godwin's Law has been invoked by IAmNotABC, and thus this thread is now dead anyway.

All of those are pretty farmable, actually. See: Mainsweeper.

Well no. Things which have a negative effect on others are banned. Pointfarms devalue other people's legitimate points. Jerking off in public traumatises the children and you might injure a passer-by in the eye or something.

Gun setups don't have a negative effect on people who don't play them.
This is like saying : Hitler did nothing wrong. He didn't do anything wrong to me. So he has no negative effect on me :)

Injure a passer-by in the eye.

That would require some deadshot precision.

literal pointfarms are not just the only setup on the blacklist, vigoroth. gallis hunter, hate me, minesweeper are all setups that arent easy to quickly whip up points for.
