Right now the mod team is discussing spamming as a vio and we're considering condensing it into one vio. This means that spamming in unranked games will now be a community vio and thus against the rules, contrary to how it is currently moderated. It would also be moderated in sandbox, which it currently isn't.
Right now, we just want to get a consensus of how the site feels about this. Do you think spamming should be moderated in unranked + sandbox?

agreed. spamming things completely unrelated to the game ruins it for everyone, even in unranked. the sheer amount of times it has occurred by one person should be a ban imho. The rule can be extremely lightly moderated in unranked and go on a case by case basis if necessary, but its idiotic to let someone prance around unranked games doing lots of hardcore spamming knowing full well he can get away with it.

A user recently got reported 40 different times over the course of 21 days but received no violations because he was technically doing 'nothing wrong.' I think this is an indication that something has to change.
Hey guys lets add more moderation the only place where you aren't threatened to be reported for gt every game. If people aren't being threatened with being reported then we must be doing something wrong!
Reminder that as long as no consensus is reached and the rule is made moderators can't give spamming violations in unranked games, because spamming is not against the rules.
imo spamming is not really a big issue in sb+unranked since there is the time out mechanism. Although vote spams are really annoying in sb so just make the vote spam as a community vio.
Yes to moderation in all Main lobby games, but as for Sandbox I couldn't support either way because I don't play there enough.
If you can't get a word in edgeways because someone is either chat spamming or vote spamming, there ceases to be any point in playing.
I think this is the key point in terms of Main - spam can seem aggressive and/or intimidating, so where many new players are (unranked main games), it shouldn't be 'allowed'. Perhaps if the spam is excessive and/or hurtful/offensive, it could come under the definition of 'trolling'?

it should be done on an individual basis rather than say "spamming in unranked is always ok" clearly this guy needs to be banned but there will be cases of harmless spamming...
Pretty sure the general consensus was to just to make it a violation for unranked Main Lobby games, and to let Sandbox handle itself. I could be mistaken though.
i think the major issue is that unranked main lobby games are mostly for new players. anybody who is spamming excessively is going out of their way to ruin the game knowing that they won't get penalized, and when a new player is just learning how to play the game excessive spam can really ruin the experience
yeah this is really what should be the result, very LIGHT moderation in unranked games. Like i said, very excessive spamming in one game or excessive spamming over a variety of games should be vios. But like seeing that all the time in unranked games really makes it hard to enjoy the game. To further clarify, it really doesnt even happen that often, just when it does its at the level where the game is borderline unplayable, and certainly unenjoyable
I say you guys should use like logic beside rules... Spam one game fine but disturb users for no reason or to test scripst should be vio or ban not just cause unranked.. you can't spam in forums
The only time spamming gets reported from what i can tell is when its excessive, and I think excessive spamming in unranked games should get a violation. I understand that people are hesitant because they fear it'll become really over-scrutinized, but if the spammer does it excessively in one game or over several games, they should get a vio. That's how it should work in my opinion
