The mod team has recently been discussing how to moderate hipfiring. The current precedent is to consider it a trolling violation in red heart games and a game throwing (GT) violation in competitive games.
We're deciding between the current precedent and two other options.
Trolling throughout. The idea behind this is that game rules are game rules and that moderation should be standardized between red and gold heart games.
Game throwing throughout. This plays to the idea that the action of hipfiring is generally done without "playing to win" and as such falls under game throwing.

I remember Lucid wanted it to be trolling because GT is a severe vio, so the current situation of trolling in red hearts and GT in golds is where we're at.
the guy who hipfires is doing it to speed up the game and have fun. he doesn't want to participate in an actual game so he makes it a fake game. it isn't throwing because he still probably has intent to win and it isn't trolling because usually his purpose isn't to make people mad
I understand what you're saying but how difficult is it to take 5 minutes out of your game time to read a strat? Can we please have some huge mf banner for new players that reads: "THERE ARE STRATS FOR THIS GAME SO YOU DONT GAMETHROW LIKE A FUCCING IDIOT thanks"
I personally think that most people dont hipfire with the intent to lose the game(unless you're grudgeshooting someone) but rather that they just wanna yolo and win the game in style, which makes it trolling if anything in my book. An example is when you're speedgaming and just randomly shooting/lynching in an attempt to win fast. You're clearly lowering the odds of winning but you're still trying to win which automatically make it so it cant be considered GT since it requires intent to lose IMO. Its like playing a suboptimal strat when there is a clear better choice to take, it might be a dumb decision to go that route and quite risky but it sure aint GT since you're still trying to win.
When a choice have the possibility to win you the game (or atleast put you in a very advantageous situation) e.g hipfire mafia before claims/before they can decieve the town/have a chance to put you in auto I think you should not be given a GT vio , but rather trolling. But thats just my opinion.
I instantly shoot the top of the list because I don't want to play with unlucky people. If they can't even survive my shot day 1 then what chance do they have in lylo?
Btw idiots the red = trolling doesn't mean that when noobidiot55 plays his first game as sherif and hipfires he doesn't instantly get a trolling vio, he's suppose to get a pm from a mod explaining not to do it and why, then if he continues after warnings / a note then he starts to recieve trolling vios
Unfortunately since most modern mods just appear that they wanna punish everyone to the fullest extent of epicmafia law, this procedure isn't followed
