Meteor

apeescaperalmost 12 years ago

As we all know, if meteor crashes down on anyone during a game, everyone loses the game and thus loses their heart. This can cause a lot of issues and finger pointing as to who is to blame for meteor happening. I had a recent gave that I've been having to fight to get refunded and I think there's a simple solution to this.

If meteor causes the game to end, the game should be unranked.

It isn't fair to make everyone in the game lose their heart if only certain people forced the meteor to happen and most of the time the game gets refunded anyways.

Any thoughts?

I think you're missing the point twelve, what's the difference between having the game go unranked and reporting it and waiting for the mods to refund it

This is actually really simplistic.
Why is scum to blame if the night-kill + night-protect are both on the same target
Because it has to happen 4 bloody times.
So because something has to repeat itself it's natural to blame the mafia instead of the doctor?
"I'm just gonna kill this guy again, even though it didn't work the last 3 times"

They're doing it with full knowledge that doctor's probably going to be on them.

Because if it's not autoloss if they don't hit the clear, doc has every right to be on the clear. Mafia should probably, go for doc in that situation rather than be on the clear when they sill have a chance to win...

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when Giga's on the other side of the table because it's a reassurance I'm right
Actually you're wrong. No need to be rude either

Twelve, is there ever a scenario where a game ending in meteor shouldn't be refunded?
The game shouldn't be refunded when both sides are at fault. (Almost never)

Meteor's there to force people to play in a specific way, it should /never/ be forced.
So in the case where meteor is forced from a doc save, both mafia and doctor are at fault so it shouldn't be refunded?
Depends on the situation. If mafia have plenty of other kill options that give them plenty of chance to win and they keep ramming the person they /know/ doctors going to be on then it's mafia's fault. If they autolose via killing outside the docsave then it's doctor/probably the rest of town's fault.

Mafia is the only one who threw because they didn't go for doctor (this is only in a non-autoloss-if-miss situation)

The game going unranked/them getting their heart back is little comfort.
its comforting because they instantly get their hearts back. I, for example, had planned on playing all my hearts this morning to get them out of the way and i have two games right now where mafia forced meteor and i've been waiting for almost a day now to get one of those hearts back so i play them while i have time
Alright, so here's the thing; who was likely to win those games where meteor was forced? The opposite side to the one that forced the meteor? That's what I thought.

Compare it to two people having gamethrown in games you were playing in and the mods simply being slow on refunding them.

After 8 or so mods usually don't refund any more hearts before midnight to prevent possible decay

Forcing a meteor is straight up comparable to GRSing. The game being refunded is a compromise, the people that had the meteor forced on them were probably going to win anyway. The game going unranked/them getting their heart back is little comfort.
lol

Actually no the game just ended without warning and everybody lost
