It was $1 and I gave it to a friend as a gag gift.
I'd rate the experience of making the cashier uncomfortable at $2, and the gag gift at $3, so I just quintupled my investment, and yes, this is exactly what white people do.

I understand how letting someone veg in a maf sided situation is beneficial since you'll probably lose, but most people don't see it that way and just want to play mafia and will always ping AFK players on principle. The Ping Trap generally gets more town lynched than mafia. The Ping Trap is a bad strat and if you use it you are bad player and should feel bad.
If you always veg the afk players in this situation then you'll gain more benefit from it than you'll lose. I generally lead the "don't ping" squadron as mafia anddd this shouldn't come up much unless everyone in the lobby is a vegaholic. (They're not.)
Meta. Pre set metas are not allowed . It is considered OGI, but this is set in stone. So to stop something set in stone, you need to break it. break it by reporting the players for ISP, and not playing, but blindly belieeving. Only way to change is to keep trying and change it.
The whole "Ping is mafia", is a lie. Face it. Its like META." I am his friend he doesnt act as mafia" is the same as "aha i was faking afk. he pinged me, he is mafia" This is all something that doesnt exist, yet people believe it blindly.
