8 vio ban reform/leash reform

deleteddeletedover 8 years ago

Banning people from EM for 6+ months at times, just makes people bypass and throw. This makes the game worse for us all and makes more work for the mods/role mods.

I propose that we have a point system that determines the length of the ban and gives people a leash to show that they are reformed. These points are just starting values, but this will likely need changed drastically before being implemented.

Points:

Cheating: 10

gt vio 2:6, 3:8, 4: 10points

grs 2+: 6

bypassing: 6

sharing account with banned user: 3

harassment/hateful comments: 2

all other vios at each level are 1 point

Points determine punishment when you reach 8 vios: Leash allows players to play ranked and eventually competition when they are under 15 points of vios.

10 or less: 1 month ban or release once the 1st vio runs out. Record is erased on leash after 1month of good behavior on leash.

10-20: 1 month ban or released to leash once 1 vio runs out. Vios worth 1 point are deleted after 2 months of good behavior.

30+ points: 1 month ban. vios worth 1 point are deleted after 3 months of good behavior.

i don't care about anything else other than pointing out the fact that people shouldnt be getting banned for 6 months

it should be 3 months max

The idea of a leash is stupid in general. Either follow the already stupid rules that are not black and white and fully defined or don't. If you're going to ban someone until a specific date then they're banned until then. The only way I see someone should be unbanned or put on a "leash" is if they are found innocent of w/e reason they were banned.
lol you admit that you have to follow poorly defined rules. this is part of the problem. most people that get 8 vio bans probably have at least 1 vio they should not.

Additionally why not give people a chance to be good citizens? Right now they still play but they like try to throw and ruin the game for all of us because they do not think they should be banned....

a lot of people get 8 vios playing even cleanly to start with. this is designed to help these guys. These people troll, isp, etc their way to a ban. it punishes the cheating/throw accounts more but it still gives them a chance to become good citizens

Too hard to track. More work for the mods.
In the long run the work is less, because you will not have as many people trying to throw I think. You also do not need to have the role mods trying to catch all the people bipassing. People will try to act like reformed citizens because they are not banned for 6months!

you already list all the vios when you give an 8 vio ban. You can just list the points on this. People then can just contact a mod when they should be on a leash or have the vios deleted

if you make a new system, maybe, possibly, it might work, but this one just doesn't do the trick
deleteddeletedover 8 years ago
it is inferior to the current system
