I would argue that guns and the governor role both have a big impact. It comes down to the fact that both "powers" place control of the game into the hands of one single person.

Mafia is a lot of skill and a lot of luck, so I would also argue that you are unlucky if you do not win sometimes. That does not necessarily mean you are bad.

By playing setups you argue "bad," you are also at fault for taking the chance in putting your fate in someone else's hands.

Guns have less of an impact than an OT does. They're 90% of the time the mislynch and only get rid of 1 townie as opposed to 2 (lynch and NK.) They swing the game much less.
