I decided to modify the rules a bit and make it so the leader just doesn't vote. So there's never going to be a tie. With this being 10 players and the leader usually accepting their own mission, I don't think it'll change anything.

To have an idea on how to begin, you can just propose teams and see what happens. After all, the only way to start gathering evidence is by who people choose to add on the team, and what happens with the mission.
Another suggestion is to just break the ice with something of this nature:
"I think HighSpace is a good guy because ppl who are high in space are never evil."
"I think Voice is on the evil side because he always pretends he never wins games"
etc.
