Do you think that being very cautious about the way you speak to people "less-privileged" than you is, in a way, pitying them? IMO, that's a very condescending thing in itself.
to illustrate an example of this, i wore pink nail polish on my hands for about a week or two this semester to see how people would respond, and the amount of guys who were weirdly uncomfortable about it was kind of funny but also kind of depressing.
well this sentiment that ur let down and somehow superior to people becauase htey find u walking around with nail polish on as weird is really revolting
i never said (or implied) i was better than those people, tho. it was sad to see people uncomfortable about it, but i don't think that makes them bad or morally flawed or something like that.
I'm not going at you I'm just stating why is it these things might appear "silly" to still exist to you* Usually the upperclass is really not connected with the reality of the classes below them ( ͡↑ ͜ʖ ͡↑)
i try to be self-conscious of speaking over people who are more oppressed than me about issues that impact them because i recognize that im experiencing life in a bubble of kinds. with regards to gender roles though, i feel like the idea that gender roles being essential in today's society isn't something the classes below me would disagree with?
It's a continuous process but at the moment you are wrong.
if ya wanna illustrate why, i am sincerely curious

a lot of people dont seem to even be actually hurt or offended by things that they claim matter to them involved in PC culture -- it seems apparent that shaming people who arent PC is just a way to show signal a superior status to others
acting sanctimonious is just a new way for people to feel superior over those that are uneducated

So how is it silly to keep and identify gender roles?

im not wearing nail polish atm tho!
also i havent really gotten the vibe from anyone in this thread that says "people who are uncomfortable around gay people are bad people"
paint them.
well no because i gotta go to a church in the morning and i sure feel more comfortable pulling off that experiment at a college campus than i do at a conservative church
