I'm tired of having to play other set-ups when I run out of red hearts

If coinflips are bad why is 53/46 bad then, its not like a coinflip then
Sadly, not every fancy pants player is smarter than the average bear. In fact, some of them can't even get the coin to flip.

]its very difficult for even the most popular comp setups to attain this level of evenness, so fancypants is kind of the ultimate competitive setup if you think about it

it completely nullifies the autoloss argument--as though it could affect the complexity and depth of this steadfast setup that has been proven over time to have complex and sophisticated strategic depth. Why else would it be so popular?
a setup having a 50/50 balance doesn't make it a good setup dude, that just makes it a coin flip

and even if you use your argument fp (with a 53-46% town win rate) isn't even a balanced setup in comparison to Jan 2.0 and VDLi which are both nearly 50/50 setups

Fancy pants has potential autoloss on day 1 lol

I don't know about some of the other 7 player setups, but if doctor saves cop and has one guilty, then it's autowin

That doesn't sound very competitive to me
situations like this are rare and only serve to balance the setup though, the win rate is very equal between town/mafia on fp
Yes, you're right, almost as even as flipping a coin

Using the same reasoning, flipping a coin is the ultimate game, and we should all go do that right now.

Wtf is this thread fam, fp is cancer. If it was comp so much GT and cheating would happen. It would be funny but like NAH.

fp wouldn't be too bad without the gs, i could even see the argument for getting it comped but the posibility of the gs makes it nearly impossible for mafia to do much wifom

that's stupid. it's easy to cheat on any setup. why arent setups like CNS blacklisted then if it's based on how easy it is to cheat on them
Because cry n spy is skill based and Fancy Pants is literally, not figuratively, a coinflip based on its EV

@Rutab boundaries of point payout and roles allowed. Already set by mods.

i think the main reason fancy pants is blacklisted from comp is it's ridiculous easy to cheat on it

Lets weigh the pros and cons

Pros 1- each and every new player will adopt the competitive realm and know that they can also win trophies

2- fancy pants meta will change and people will embrace the new strats to play it. People will realize that each setup can be played in multiple ways

3- new players will interact with pros in a level playing field and will learn from each other

Cons 1- few braindead and self righteous mods and ex mods will be pissed off that a setup they banned on their discretion is allowed again

2- mods and their friends will be able to cheat frequently and more easily which they can do on LOBL and VDLI kind of setups only

This too.

Moderator discretion isn't bad in different situations at all. It's necessary a lot of the time.

What kind of boundaries are you talking about then, Pranay? Those would be set by mods too.

Also the mods who made those decisions have been banned for cheating and demoded dishounrably.

Mod discretion is the biggest bs mods pull. It is their personal choice. If they are able to say some bs and convince some other gullible mods then they get what they want. A competition based on winners picking setups and players playing it should not be interfered in, by mods once boundaries are set. If the majority wants to play fancy pants then they should be allowed to. Also you will see more people playing gold heart and new players will be encouraged to run for the trophy once they see their name on the leader board.

I would disagree that it's a "power trip."

Mod discretion definitely works in most situations, especially relating to basic gameplay rules and requirements.

FP should not be comped.

I am just one mod, however. I'm not speaking for everyone else right now when I say all of this.
