Can we have people who "look Muslim" based on the stereotypical appearance in our brain based on portrayal in news/media of Muslims? Yes. That doesn't mean you're deciding that the Iranian man walking down the street is Muslim, no more than deciding that the non-op trans man is a woman.
I'm having difficulty with how you're comparing race and gender. One being unchangeable and the other being quite changeable.
if you mean someone thats trans or nonbinary, then you determine if its gay by their gender.
Their gender is determined by you yourself so that doesn't help.
I don't think that's how gender works, you can't exactly decide what someone else is.
I can decide whoevers gender I want. I cannot decide whoevers seex I want. One is unchanging, the other is very volatile.
Judging from your other comments it sounds like your idea of "deciding another person's gender" is just dropping someone into one of the pre-programmed sexual categories we have in our brains. Ergo, it is equal to statements like this: "I can decide whoever's religion/political alignment/occupation I want. I cannot decide whoever's race/sexuality/intact body parts I want. One is unchanging, the other is very volatile."
