Unfair meta: "I would never kill X"

whoaminooneknowsabout 10 years ago

I have a question, a rather noob question, so feel free to insult my intelligence. It is, however, a rhetorical question, given that I write it with the presumption that this practice is unfair :

Why is it ok for players (especially experienced players, let's call them Y) to say "I would never kill X" in a game?

This meta, which has nothing to do with the current game assumes that players in the game are aware of some implicit social capital that has been built over many months (if not years) between X and Y.

In the scenario that this is true, it puts new players (not Y) at an undue dis-advantage. As maf, if they kill X without knowledge of past relationships, they are automatically clearing some players in the table who meta-clear themselves instantly.

I do not propose that this is illegal, but rather that it shouldn't be used by experienced players as it gives them an unfair advantage. I realize this is a slippery slope argument, but the lines have to be drawn somewhere.

The I wouldnt kill x shouldnt be allowed at all
It's time to get rid of the X kills Y meta. I've always hated it, and I'm sure it turns a lot of people away from the competitive scene, and perhaps even the website itself.
I detest it. If its true and known to be true, its impossible for mafia to win. Top of the lit best kill

There's no such thing as unfair meta. Meta itself is nonsense, and falls under the category of wifom.
