(If you can win all of them) 1500 points is 25 -30 games of Fancy Pants (approx), 500 would be 1/3 of it, way too little to go venture play comp setups... In 9-10 games of fancy pants you still have to learn even the vocabulary of EM, at least with 25-30 you know the jargon (what's lylo, mylo and so on) and you've seen some ccs battles, cop reporting, doc saves and some other pr (orc, bomb and gs mainly, which are amongst the most used in comp too). Obviously you learn just the basic there (and in similar setups, classic, guns and hookers etc), then starting playing in Comp you advance more.
So yeah, 1500 (or something more, I would say) is a fair amount, 500 would be way too little, 2000 or 2500 would be perfect probably.
(I'm not a mod, so you can keep crying that mods are not answering you, but they are not because we all already answered you)

What will accumulating 5000 points on a setup where you basically NL and then selfvote hoping to win teach anyone.
CM wasn't a good teaching tool. FP is worse. There's really no reason for people to have to accumulate even 1500 points on it. You're still going to suck total at non-FP setups until you learn to play them through experience, forcing people to sit through that garbage is either a deterrent or a bad teaching tool where they just pick up all they know from people who've played basically only that mind-numbing set for 2 years. I've yet to see a legitimate reason to keep it that high.
You can still play comp setups with read hearts, honey.
@Shivv what's the point of this? I just said X points aren't a valuable condition to enter in competition. Btw thanks for quoting my achievements, that's really nice of you.
