The only fact I need is that Jesus died for MY sins.
And for the sins of the crusaders! Gotta and murder more Muslims to make it worth it!

if he exists, he's not doing any work.. we are working for him, he says he's "fair" and but there are many people born in different circumstances and some of them are impossible for them to get to the right heaven. i hate god

Okay now account for human deaths in war before Christianity and Islam.
oh I was just pointing out that when comparing islam vs. christianity, christianity has resulted in many more deaths. (to craycray and junhoes)

do you guys wanna hear some solid facts that will Blow Your Mind??? Here's a list of major/minor wars instigated by either Christians or Muslims, and their casualties compared.

German Peasants' War - 100,000 deaths for Christianity.

Moro Insurgency - 120,000 deaths for Islam.

Northern Crusades - Couldn't find any good estimate, so lets just say 1 death for Christianity.

Algerian Civil War - 200,000 deaths for Islam.

Lord's Resistance Army - 200,000 deaths for Christianity.

Albigensian Crusade - Estimates vary wildly from 7k to 1mil, but let's just say 200,000 deaths for Christianity.

Great Turkish War - 300,000 deaths for Christianity.

Afghan Civil Wars - 400,000 deaths for Islam.

Rashidun Conquests - I can't find anything resembling an estimate for the casualties involved, so lets just say: 700,000 deaths for Islam.

Ottoman Conquests - 800,000 deaths for Islam.

The Crusades - 1,000,000 deaths for Christianity.

French Wars of Religion - 3,000,000 deaths for Christianity.

Thirty Years' War - 10,000,000 deaths for Christianity.

So that's 14,800,01 deaths for Christianity and 2,220,000 for Islam.

this doesn't even count the Taiping Rebellion which resulted in 20,000,000 deaths (which would bring the total deaths to 34,800,001).

Why would a god let his believers do such a thing? Why would you follow a god that allows such a thing? Because he promises you a place in paradise once you die? Sounds kind of messed up to me.
The only fact I need is that Jesus died for MY sins.

I think it's hard to determine whether something is truly religiously justified or not...sometimes I wonder if we removed religion, whether people would just come up with another reason. Maybe not as much if religion didn't exist, but in the modern and developed world I highly doubt there's a correlation between religion and violence. In poorer places with more conflict, there seems to be, but then again those places also have higher rates of conflict for other reasons, like ethnicity, and we're hardly going to 'ban' (if such a thing were possible) ethnic groups because there's conflict between them.

Stalin (Atheist) killed around 20-40 million people
i hope this was a joke post, because religion has caused a lot more deaths & genocides
An excuse is not actually the cause. We don't blame weapons for wars even though they tend to be the primary source of death.
deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago
I believe in a higher power, so i wasn't trying to speak ill of religion. i was just telling her that her post was stupid because she ignored the fact that many religious people have done worse than what one Atheist has.
deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago
Talking about the amount of deaths religion has caused isn't going to matter in the eyes of most believers. "Yeah, but that's ********** religion, whereas I'm a follower of ********** religion" or "okay, but that's the yyxyxyxy denomination, and I'm more of a yxyxyxyxyxyxyxxxx kind of guy."

There has to be a main source to create all of this.
Two questions:

1. What/who created God?

2. If nothing created God, and God just *was*, and was always present, then why could the cause of the Big Bang not be the always present factor?
The counter point is "What/who created the universe?" God is infinite, just like the universe. That whole argument can be countered with asking the same questions.
The point isn't to counter arguments of God, it's to show that God and the The Big Bang can be equated. Both are faith based, b/c we can't look prior to the Big Bang, and we can't see God.

I don't believe in religions, only in a "God"-figure. Personally I think God created this world and left it. There has to be something which started everything.

This is coming from a non-believer. First of all, was there no God, there'd be no Mr. Satan, i.e. you, so you might as well as sort out your priorities. Secondly, have you ever even played the sims? Killing people is fun.

There's a need for God because He is infinite and we strive for the infinite, we strive for eternal happiness which we can only obtain with Him in heaven and only get a taste of it in this finite world

If this poll was held in any other community that didn't have a majority of American people answering it, there would definitely not be as many people answering "Yes", and as few people answering "No".
As if America is the source of Religion in this world, you're being stupid.
