I've been doing this for about 2 weeks. I just did a game earlier today where everyone suspected i was maf, because... i dont know. But it came down to 3 people, and the blue sided with maf and killed me, the cop. That was fine, because i understand that you lose sometimes, and i hope you do too! But whats not good is the barrage of insults and anger that was flying my way.
IM SORRY for not knowing all the l33t lingo.
IM SORRY for accidentally "soft telling" or something.
IM SORRY for not knowing what to do when someone cc's.
IM SORRY for not knowing about this site 2 years ago.
But what i am not sorry about is joining. It's a really fun game, and i enjoy doing it. But why does it have to be such a hostile environment to noobs? You didn't know anything about the game once. You, like me, had a 2 week old account at once.
Things like this are supposed to be fun, win or lose! So I'd really appreciate it if you actually kind of welcomed me to the community, instead of just calling me "A IDIOT" during postgame and telling me to get off the site. It's really kind of hurtful. Just please remember that we are all people, with lives outside of this game. And please remember you, like me, were a noob once. This isn't directed to everyone, just a select few who still are enraged at new players for DARING to NOT KNOW EVERYTHING about the game before they play the game.
The problem is most FP players are content to be vegetables. I'd venture that a majority of this site doesn't realize you should approach every game rationally, and if more people did, older players would spend more time in game and less time on the forums.

Michael, has it ever occurred to you that not everyone is as narrow-minded as yourself?
get a noavi and all of the hostility will go away. trust me. no one ever gets mad at me anymore. probably because noavi's never make mistakes. everyone loves njnj.
Well unlike everyone else on the site, the first thing I do when someone makes a topic like this is see if they approach the game rationally. You're free to confirm this for yourself then reevaluate my posts.
Agreed. Older players should be serving as mentors and teachers to newer players instead of antagonizing them and kicking them from their games because they aren't experienced.
I'd say Jan because of the jan. In most other setups ml's are just a free chance for town to be wrong, however if you don't mishandle the ml town should be able to confirm a lynch regardless of what's ml'd.

"Hi I've been playing for 2 weeks and I don't like the way the community treats new players." - JonTBH
"LOL U SHUD STOP BEING BAD AND GET OVER IT IDIOT." - UniversalStudios
in a way, you need to sort of have a thicker skin for a game based around deception and mostly as a form of debate. just dont let these insults get to you, and realize that most people are just talking that way due to the tension of the game. being an idiot in-game is not the same as being an actual one. if it gets borderline personal then there lies the problem, though i wouldn't say most people on epicmafia are any good at being constructive regardless.
Thank you for saying this. I realize this post is kind of sensitive, but i just wanted to make at least 1 person try and notice "oh crap im kind of a bad person (dumb filter)"

Isn't it crazy how the guy who posted this topic has a 10% higher winrate than Zovea
Lmao

The funny thing is that c-14 (the only setup I've played) is arguably one of the better competitive setups.
But Zovea wouldn't know that.
*Whistles*
D1 ml's aren't competitive, even if your reads are 100% correct.
so cry n oh, cry n spy, basic logic, basic variant, b2ns, jan 2, all non competitive? Lol ok
Can you post in a thread and not bring this up like once in life
If you read something other than my posts you'd see that I wasn't actually the one that brought my winrate up, but hey you didn't and made this stupid post.

I'm pretty worried for Zovea's state of mind.
JonTBH - Good thread. You're right, people on this website are ridiculously petty from time to time. As Patrick said on page 1, just try to have thicker skin and understand that people get tense over games from time to time. I'm glad that you still enjoy the game regardless of the social hangups that you've conveyed.
However, the sad reality is that the community is too small to break the players up accordingly, so you'll have different levels of ability joining the same games and this leads to frustration. In an ideal world of EpicMafia, it would be far more convenient to implement some kind of ELO system to try and ameliorate these issues.
D1: On average the first person to vote no one is scum. D2: If mafia have failed to kill a pr there will be 2 sets of cc's and a clear. Vote your cc convince the clear to vote with you. If you're clear read what's said and make your best guess. If you're wrong and there was something you missed, remember it.
If cop dies n1 don't bother nling past the second day it's a waste of time. You just need to identify 2 people that are town and you'll have 50% chance lynching successfully.
You can also click on a person's character and assign them a role. Use this always as it's how you'll develop your ability to determine alignments.

If it was the last game of my run for a trophy and I had to pass the hammer to maymay or Zovea, I'd GRS and run next round.
