Where to start?

zoopleover 11 years ago

So I've played about 5 or 6 games now and I'm often in over my head. I have looked at the roles and understand them, but find there's a lot of terminology I don't get. I've tried the wiki but that doesn't cover it either. People jump to decisions so quickly and Im finding that a lot of games just aren't fun because people get pushy and you have no time to think.

Can anyone guide me as to where to start. Or maybe PM me, I have some questions id like to ask.

Classic mafia is a good setup to learn on;

FP is a good setup to learn wifoming there's actually a lot of strategies you can do as mafia & how meteor works (Most noobs still don't know though)

Guns & Hooker is a good setup to learn how to bus your partners.

These are all basic setups, I literally learned before I got into comp lobby on Classic mafia (FP wasn't around at the time)
I joined competition literally right when I Got to 1500 points years ago and I learned everything pretty quickly.

play guns and hookers instead
And how will this make him a better player?

classic mafia is a far better set up to learn on

play fancy pants. it's fun and gets you ready for comp if that's what you want to do in the future. it also is the most played game, so you'll never be waiting for it to fire up.
This is blatantly false.

I once commented about FP games not filling and I got downvoted.

thats not a good thing to admit :/

I generally don't make it to the final day as town. I'm at 50% in lylo, but that's only 6 times this month.

It would be great if you could get credit for losses if you vote mafia regardless of outcome.
unfortunately that ignores the other important part of mafia games that is getting the lynches you want

well you'd want to be careful comparing pies anyway. we could actually have a way better ranking system on this site tho that wasn't just about %wins but used points to account for the percentage winchance per setup (it doesn't do that atm, only game specific alignment winchance, a completely half-assed job)
deleteddeletedover 11 years ago
You can't regard any pie whereby the most played setup is Fancy Pants.

zovea probs comes out at about 50/50 wins if not better accounting for the accumulative given winchance in the setups he's played, in all fairness to the man. he actually has a point in always crying about townsided pointfarms, or if people are always going to be pointing out his w/r to him anyway

First you need to understand that Fancy Pants is a townsided point farm. That being said I spectated a few of your games and you're on track to picking up the game through pure experience, however I'll say this: Put effort into winning your games regardless of role. Don't just sit back and let the games resolve themselves for you, be the resolution.

It'll be a struggle, but once you master it you'll have a leg up on everyone you play with and no one will be able to take that from you.
that was good advice. eat zovea's butt

BV and B2NS are town pointfarms?

You could have had a point but your most played setups are townsided pointfarms.

It's ok ppl are rushing all the time. And you can't knock sense into them. But soon you will learn to do decisions faster.
