Hello. A select bit of mods have been deliberating for a while on how to improve the forum experience, and we've discussed the idea of implementing Forum Rules. This is something that we want to include the community in, so your feedback/opinions are worthwhile.
Here's a rough draft for what we have in mind.
Every subforum that isnt OT is going to be moderated more heavily for off-topic posts, and moderators will reserve the right to delete your post. Don't ruin threads with your banter, go to OT for that.
We're going to try and be harder about flaming/harassment on the forums. We want to try and make the place more friendly and while it might be a bit of a change we're asking that you be patient with us and what we have in mind is merely things to be discussed.
Negative and constructive criticism is fine. We're not going to silence your opinion for disagreeing or being abrasive, just never make it personal. That's all we ask. We understand that mafia is a competitive game at it's nature and that things are bound to get heated, but that doesn't mean we have to let things get out of control.
Trolling will be treated as the same as trolling in-game. A user has a right to report you if he believes that you are trolling them or their thread. Punishments will be handed out accordingly after we readjust what the repercussions will be for forum trolling.
OT will be moderated lightly, and GD will be at the discretion of the person making the topic. All rules are going to be in effect for all other subforums.
All mods reserve to delete your posts if they are off-topic.

The others are probably afraid of the comp community that they are trying to moderate.
Retti is used to being the whipping boy and is also used to being wrong so this is right up his alley.

Hey Retti. can you say you would still be on EM if the forums werent here
i think the funny part is that regardless of what the community's reaction was, if the mod team could justify it within themselves despite the more than enough room to create controversy, they would go forth with their plan regardless of how many users opposed them
this thread is not a legitimate attempt at community discussion, moreso "please pat us on the back a few days before we make the rules official" with a smaller sidegoal of "well even though the chance of us changing our minds is 0 maybe you can narrow one specific point that doesn't change the overall plan"
nah, retti made this thread. he thinks this idea is the bees knees and doesn't want to get his balls cut off if it gets implemented without anyone liking it
No, I think it's something to be discussed. I'm not taking any credit here as I had help from other mods coming up with the ideas. I was just the one to make it.
every site has rude people on it. we're all here for the same reason and trying to make the forums into a utopia won't help anything. scrap this idea and start discussing ways to make the forums more inviting for newer players/posters

Actually, you're wrong. We're not forcing anything and we're merely using this thread to present our ideas.
i put the chance of this being true at probably 5%
fortunately for you the extent of freedom on a community IS a controversial/grey area and thus you will get enough backpatters to enable you to feel good with moving forward, even though you could probably make a thread with the reverse and get just as many
instead of trying to moderate the forums for off-topic posts to attract new players, maybe make a section or a topic for introductions.
We can work on that.
you mean the freaking welcome to em forum?

you can make the forums more inviting without cranking down on off-topic posts
but then they'll be scared off by all the rude people on the forums
