I was volunteering at a kids summer camp last year. Someone told us they wanted to play mafia, so I tried to set it up.
I tried to do vanilla setup. It was awful. Tbh, I slightly framed the roles, I made cop someone who I thought would be confident leading, and I made the other volunteer a mafia. The other mafia was a shy kid who I thought would benefit. Doc was another shy kid.
Cop got an inno, maf killed a blue. Day 1, cop didn't claim, despite my (the narrator's) strong hints. Everyone just sat around awkwardly, then they lynched the doc for 'not making eye contact'.
I was in the corner like "wow im not supposed to help here but if you are say an important rolle about to get lynched it would be a good idea to claim here just a hint idk im the narrator."
She didn't claim, and died.
Mafia killed the next night, d2 I explain that if they lynch wrong they lose today. Cop has two innos, and still doesn't claim. The other volunteer (who I made mafia deliberately, thinking she'd be an easy lynch for them as she wasn't part of their little social group) didn't seem to get my hints, and started overplaying and attempting to scumhunt.
Somehow town considered lynching the second mafia (shy guy) but in the end they lynched a different blue. Mafia killed in the night and won.
We didn't reach a second game.
