Here's a list of stellar anime/VNs that I've watched and played and should be enjoyable by a wide audience, including non-weebs.
Anime 1. Sis Puella Magicka (magical girls gone horribly wrong) 2. Mob Psycho 100 (fake psychic mentors a real one) 3. Nichijou (everyday life on steroids) 4. Ping Pong the Animation (see title) 5. Bacanno! (gambit pileup on a train)
VNs 1. Stein;s Gate (time travel epic) 2. Dangan Ronpa 2 (crazy in all the right ways) 3. Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors (escape-the-room puzzler) 4. Persona 4 (funky jrpg) 5. Ib (freeware art museum adventure/horror)
Honorable mention to the Jules Verne adventure game 80 Days, which while fantastic to play doesn't really qualify as a VN.
It took me until now to realize that Mawile has a giant jaw trailing from its head and that its name is a punning off *maw*, a word for mouth.
It's my favorite pokemon because it's terrifying and it's original. There are pokemon based off keys, garbage, and washing machines, but I'm not sure what Mawile's based on. A venus flytrap?
