B-but, if a physicist is asked “Is it possible to travel faster than light?” and says “At this point, we do not know whether or not it's possible.” to you it has the exact same meaning as if he said “Yes, it is possible.”?

I feel like some people here don't understand what the core of P=NP is actually about
it's not explicitly about solving the problem "efficiently," it's about how quickly a solution for a problem can be found in comparison to how fast its solution can be verified
when people say "efficient" they generally refer to something being solved in polynomial time, which is the definition of P. but people don't really care about time complexity so when sites like business insider write about this topic, they usually use "efficient" and "inefficient" in place of "polynomial" vs "exponential"

Also Sonseray, just because people are working on it doesn't mean that they think it is possible. It's generally regarded that P most likely doesn't equal NP and people are working on the problem not because they think it's true, but rather just to find a solution. The prize will be handed out to anyone that can disprove P=NP as well
I'm disappointed, I thought you knew how to read.
For the fiftieth time, I do not understand computer science.
I understand the fact that, by definition, the challenge is completed when it is proven possible or impossible, and thus by definition, it is possible to solve the challenge.
I do not speak Mandarin, and I can't understand it, but I know they speak it in China.
