They can't explain the story in one teaser trailer. I think this one was to just get if out there as an announcement, not everyone read the book. Spielberg won't make a movie without a plot.

the book was good and fun to read imo but the movie looks awful

the movie looks like it has no plot and it's just a circlejerk of nostalgia and sfx

Main thing is ready player one looks dope. Also people should read more. Everyone who reads this thread should read the book, its short and really entertaining.

In terms of literature it isn't great. The first and second act are definitely great examples of metafiction but the third act is clearly an example of someone running out of ideas, self-inserting, and using tired cliches. Its still a f*cking great read though and for someone who enjoys pop culture and/or videogames, its an absolute must read.
