Qs about being religious thread

deleteddeletedabout 9 years ago

In real life lately, I have had a lot of good questions from non-Christians (Muslim, Jew, Hindu, etc) about being Christian and our beliefs. If anyone has questions, feel free to ask them here. I am open to respectful discussions on this matter here or in PM. I am a Christian, but I have soul searched on this topic a lot over the years..

The idea that a scientist believes that an invisible imaginary man saved him from a car crush and is intervening in every single thing in his life makes me uncomfortable

makes sense as in is limited to the things you evolved to see and feel and never think about the possibilities outside of your own life? sounds like a good time haha

I think if in general religion helped make the world a better place (it seems like that's the point??) I would have no problem with it but with everything going on in the word I think the bad outweighs the good :( sorry mt01 u lost me on this one

Do you live in an area where being religious or Christian is the norm? Or do you live in an area with more religious diversity? Do you think living in a certain type of area has affected your struggle w your faith? Do you think you would think any differently about your faith if you were exposed to more or less religious/cultural(?) diversity than you are now?
I have lived in predominately Christian areas, but I have lived around sects (and have family in this) that I personally do not believe are Christian (they do not believe the John 3:16 thing that I said earlier). I struggled with faith some because of this other sect when I was like in high school. I researched many religions a lot then. I then moved to a region that had a majority of this sect during college, and this helped me solidify many views through prayer and discussions with them (and I still do not believe in this sect).

As many know, I am a scientist. This creates a very diverse working environment with many religions represented. Hence I am exposed to more religions now. This was why I kind of started this thread, as I always get asked questions by people regarding my faith.

My exposure to different faiths has helped shaped my faith. It both helped solidify it and gave me slightly different believes than many Christians.
