ill start with the one song i actually know from this list.. because of the show This Is Us songwriting: 10/10 the mood of the song is soooooo sad which they deliver FANTASTICALLY with the lyrics. i had to listen to this twice, because the first time i was like "are they singing what i think they're singing?" because the music struck me so hard. the second time through, i was SHOCKED at how dark the lyrics are and how empty it made me felt. composition: 8/10 nothing special here but the music is incredibly soothing. it might've even left a hole in my heart. reminds me of bon iver. vocals: 8/10 lovely voice and enunciation that elevates the lyrics and mood.
overall 8.7/10 you'll probably hate me for mentioning angus & julia stone but some of their old songs also have the same "dark message, sad feelings" vibe i love

if i were to judge this song on each criteria individually, the score wouldn't be very high. i think it's how every aspect of the song meshes so well together that really makes it a good song, regardless of how simple it is.
