since there was no sheriff, the hunter was really popular. everyone always loves guns <3
the community was a lot different too. nostgalia always introduces bias, but I remember people being friendlier and more positive. everyone was basically a noob, and people took a lot of time to help each other.
there were no mods, lucidrains handled reports himself. you would email him.
I think gamethrowing and trolling was a LOT less prevalent. it was a rare sight for me to actually see a game being thrown.
strategies for setups and gameplay in general wasn't as developed. you saw a lot more unconventional plays, and strategy exploration, and discussion
I remember protesting when lucid added mini avis to the chat lol. but all was forgiven when he made the usernames fixed with and aligned the text.
back then, epicmafia looked like this. there were a lot less roles and mechanics. for example, items like guns didn't exist.
In game, the UI was a lot less primitive, but more importantly copying mechanics was an important part of the game. It was allowed, and everyone did it.
You didn't just copy reports - you also copied night meetings, people asked you to Ctrl+A and copy so it'd include the user list, etc. There were third party tools and wiki pages detailing the text and you'd spend night time preparing as mafia.
lucidrains actually played the game lmao.
oh, if you navigated to another page (e.g. pressed back button, backspace key), you would sui.
When lucid removed negs it removed them completely from your counter. So your current karma score is every karma you've ever recieved with none of the negs. lol
