why aren't n1 kills random yet?

JohnnyBravoover 9 years ago

Arguments in favor:

  • Works against cheating
  • Works against trolling
  • Benefits competitive gameplay
  • Stops people from using meta to try and clear themselves (I'd never kill X, basically another form of cheating)
  • Stops experienced players from getting N1'ed 50% of the games.
  • Prevents a bunch of reports about grudgekilling, like this one https://epicmafia.com/report/207332 Mods already can't handle the current reports so taking work away from them is always a good thing.

Arguments against:

  • You can't get trolls out of your game. (Because for some reason, being able to kick people from your game is not possible)
  • Lucid would have to do something.

I don't have to? We know it happens and we know there are reports for it, and that's all I claimed in the thread. It's hard to prove so its hard to vio, but it could very easily be prevented with a simple solution that is great for competitive and bad for cheaters.
This wouldn't stop cheating at all.
did I say it would stop all cheating? Jesus Christ, it's unbelievable how bad your reading comprehension is. It prevents some forms of cheating.

There are also reports for someone calling another a poo poo head if you look deep enough, doesn't mean we should make taking sh*ts random

And besides if you're so against/upset at random n1 kills then you can just play dawnstart or daystart setup
this. thank you

JohnnyBravo is such an awful player that anyone who wins more games than a coin does must be cheating in his eyes

I see why you're against it now though, if you use N1 kills to artificially boost your winrate vs legit players I'd try to keep it like this as well.
n1 actions do actually matter and making them random because some players don't like it is objectively a bad choice, especially since certain players investigating/killing/saving x gives reads that can easily be faked by mafia and everyone else, so yeah, plenty of reasons this wouldn't be ok, but go play dawnstart setups all you want

I kill the best town players in my games when I am mafia, which is part of the reason I win trophies. Try it out sometime. Why on earth would I not choose to murder the player most likely to catch me?
Yeah, to me that is being a garbage player. Do you also N1 trophyrunners to reduce their odds of winning? And you don't see the problem with this?

None of the n1 actions affect the game as much as a kill, I've never seen a report for someone getting grudgehooked every game or grudgeinvestigated. But you're right, making everything random would be great.
Except they do, all of those can affect the outcome of the game
None of those AFFECT THE GAME AS MUCH as killing. Holy , read english.
OK. Well if we're using your logic then we can just look at doc for instance as he can prevent a kill. That's significant enough

So experienced players getting N1ed 50% of the time is a good thing? Why not let people play the game.
Yes, and I say that as someone who gets night one'd more in a round than you've probably ever been night one'd.
You're playing on an alt that joined January 2017?
Yeah, one that is confirmed as one of the most notorious/legendary multi time trophy winners of all time, and also I trophied this January 2017 so what does that tell you?

There's no such thing as n1 grudge kill. You can kill whoever you want on the first night.
