Password breach

deleteddeletedalmost 10 years ago

There has been a breach in security and users are claiming that their passwords are being PMed to them. This is a PSA to change your password at earliest convenience. Make sure it's a strong password; here are some useful links to help:

Strong password generator -

And here's to check how long it would take a comptuer to decrypt your password -

No one has gotten my password, and I haven't gotten anyone's. Is this still a thing, and are they going after certain people?
there hasn't been another incident since, so it's unlikely. you should still update your password, though.

I'm good
it is a lot less than 6 years if the computer already knows the exact number of characters in your password
thefire007almost 10 years ago
lol It would take a computer about 6 hundred years to decrypt your password, i'm ok thanks

If you only use one computer, just a reminder that this exists: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/15491-securepw

This will insure that your password is unguessable and can't stolen by a malicious script, and it's easier than not using anything at all.

It's not if the passwords are being intercepted prior to hashing.

Errr, hashing and salting passwords is enough to prevent this from happening. Why isn't that being done already?
