Welcome to Forum Mafia 19: Forbidden Actions!

Game is over. Ended on Day 5

Mafia wins! This game was ranked.

The mastermind's behind this game are Gerry, Mori and myself.

The game will be played like any other Forum Mafia game, with one twist! Every player will be given an action pregame. If the action they are given is performed, they will be Killed from the game, with their forbidden action being shown afterward. More information will be given under Rules.

I. The Schedule:

72 Hour Days. 24 Hour Nights

  • If you don't submit actions by the deadline I will consider you taking no action.

II. The Set Up:

  • There is no "possible roles list". I promise not to get too crazy.

  • Mafia will have Day chat. And will know each other's Forbidden Actions

  • You will get an Alignment PM. Town or Mafia and your alignment will not change.

You win if all threats to the town are eliminated and at least one town-aligned player is alive.

You win if at least one member of your group is alive and all other players are dead (or if nothing can prevent the same)

III. The Rules:

As explained earlier, there will be forbidden actions. YOU CANNOT SHARE YOUR FORBIDDEN ACTION. If found to, you will be mod killed. If you commit the forbidden action, you will be killed from the game. You may speculate forbidden actions of others within the game. If asked whether your forbidden action is something, you cannot confirm or deny. You can also not soft or hint as to what your forbidden action is.

We also will be strict about ISP and replacements. If you think for any reason you MAY have to be replaced, do not sign up. We also reserve the right to deny anyone from joining, if we believe you will troll, isp, sub.

IV. Votes:

  • Votes must be made in the format Vote: Playername. Bolding is done using the tags [b][/b].

  • I will not take any other type of vote. If I can't tell who you're voting, I won't take it.

MOD NOTE Mori will be giving out a token prize to a player from each alignment who the hosts determined played best.

Knowing Damned, I feel like he'd have a stronger opening as mafia rather than a short one like that

Himiko seems someone like someone really quick to jump to conclusions despite not having a lot of thought put into it, and I am not sure how to read it quite yet because I think that is just her playstyle.

Himiko, you mentioned your 'other game' with PonyLove, what were your alignments in that game?

ponylove, my perception is that forum mafia is generally taken more seriously than normal mafia, and also that you shoudln't complain about people being serious because what differentiates serious discussion and nearly-impossible-to-read early-game trolling is... whether people are having serious discussion. Like, the sooner people get serious with reads, the sooner reads will become legitimate. Did I explain that well?

(I also mentioned earlier that I think filler/trolling is easier to fake for mafia, though not inherently scummy)

I didn't know he was here and I don't want to play with him. I call this a liability lynch and would appreciate it if everyone just speed blitzed this so we could get to D2 with a night kill and PR reports/actions. Thanks SO much.

Impoetic, you're really not understanding my reads, and I'm already getting frustrated at explaining. It has nothing to do with his fos's, it's the fact he explained something pretty obvious: the obvious being forbidden actions are restrictions, which did nothing to help town. I don't see how you see that as not filler.

But actually, I don't see why you're adamant about coming to Retti's defense, which makes me think there's a chance you might be maf trying to get brownie points by defending someone.

ya, theres really no reason to give information about your forbidden action because (although it might not be related at all) it may give more reads into what your role is. i can maybe see it helping in some scenarios based off just random forbidden actions i thought would likely be included but as mist said, you cant really hint at your action anyways

btw, soda is probably just mafia giving himself a handicap by not using an e for fun and it isnt related to his forbidden action. i could potentially see them trolling him by giving him that particular one, but i mostly doubt that

No one said it was scummy to want to out your forbidden action. Kassidy said it was towny, Retti said it wasn't and he was against that.

If mechanical filler is scummy and/or antitown, both of which it can be in some instances, Retti was putting a stop to that.

Maybe I'm not understanding you, yes.

Trust me, when I am mafia I don't have an explicit desire to be TR'd, and that's because I'd rather just hard push a ML. So, I'm telling you right now, from the bottom of my heart, that I am town. I hope my earnest plea is enough for you all to hard TR me. Cool. Now we ready to play.

in case you don't recall, I did like nothing last game, I was just skimming through lines, and like, idk I just think you should find your chillness, and just relax. if you noticed, we're surrounded by penguins, I think they're pretty chill.

But, honestly my question is, is it really scummy to want to out your forbidden action? I think of it more as null, because I think it's reasonable to not be happy with your forbidden action. I don't see how town or mafia would want to keep it a secret, especially when it could potentially you over.

On that note, Retti's whole thing about forbidden actions being restrictions just felt like straight up filler meant to appear as thoughtful town.
It was a response to a bunch of comments on forbidden actions why would you single out retti there? Seriously doubt he said that as mafia but wouldn't as town and I seriously don't understand how you can think that it's both "filler to appear town" (from Retti but not anyone else) and "mafia hastily pushing on someone and misreading"

Your idea on misreading makes no sense because (A) retti wasn't trying to scumread anyone and (B) you were, and appear to have jumped to the conclusion that he was scumreading someone for the sake of scumreading him and your read generally seems poorly thought out to me
