Actually the opposite of bogus. If you mean bogus in the sense that you need to care about syntax and that it's technically a verbose language if you can't write clean code, I suppose so, but I like the challenge of refactoring.
Depends on what you are working in. Python and the libraries built upon Python are amazing for big data analysis which a lot of Fortune 500 companies are shoveling their money toward right now.
