hey this is probably my favorite band so like i'll share it with you guys. im sure at least some of you are familiar with Failure, but this original 90s band is a little obscure.
so, uh, they have 4 full-length albums in their discography and those are Comfort, Magnified, and Fantastic Planet, and last year's The Heart is a Monster. you can listen to the full albums on YouTube through the links i put. they're all really good albums imo and it shows how awesome this band is.
so yeah take a listen but if whole albums are too much for you here are some recommended songs you have to listen to:
From a creative sound engeineering perspective it is one of the best songs on the album. Of all of their albums Fantastic Planet is a stand out on production quality alone, I use pillowhead as a room reference track thanks to the quality of the track. The creative production is what drew me to the band, I've picked up bands like ramona falls and wolves and machines due to the concept of production composition, using the mix and master as it's own creative space to include meta compositional elements to reinforce the mood or song. Nurse who loved me really brings together both what the producer and band were going for perfectly on that album, the song, like the majority of the album, is about heroin and his freinds using medicinal amounts to quit it whilst he can't seem to escape it's charm and the production mirrors it. My favourite section is where the song gets messier and messier and more into the actual grunge territory production wise, dropping the space element. They envision the more grunge aspect of their compostion to imply a lack of control and composure in relation to the drug and suddenly the mix does what is esentially a producition inhale, everything reels back leaving a massive empty space with a spacey guitar and minimalistic vocals, which esentially mix wise represents a heavy breath of fresh air, dropping it all. It created an amazing juxtaposition that left a lasting impression on me and caused me to check the band out. None of their albums however compare to Fantastic Planet in my opinion, that was by far the peak of their material in my opinion.
It's a fine track on its own but it feels so out of place with the rest of Fantastic Planet. Not enough space rock, not enough hard riffs.Trust me I'm far from hating on that track and I think it's in the better half of FP, but it's just that there are better ones. Also, my favorites aren't based on radio hits sooo~!

fantastic band. i really love the high pitched guitars, it really gives it the "Failure" feel, instantly memorable and iconic.there are some songs here and there that i could do without but most tracks just beg you to keep coming back for a listen!
i found out about them when they opened for tool. what a great show it was.
