help find a thing

almost 10 years

hello fellow spam forum users my laptop screen has been holding on by a thread which has just recently snapped and now both hinges holding up the screen are cracked and the screen is in free fall

now i have a plan and it's pretty ghetto so i need your help

the warranty is expired so i thought of a way to fix this problem without fixing my laptop and it's essentially a toothed cord with two sliders that can lock position to fix the screen in place by the distance between these two sliders at the top of the screen and bottom of the keyboard as illustrated below

anyone have any idea what this is that im looking for because i dont

are you sure it's unfixable? i've fixed my laptop's broken hinges multiple times with extra screws and superglue applied with a q-tip

it was being held by plastic

the actual turning part didnt break because thats metal but the whole thing around it did which is even more annoying because its perpetually off

when i had a laptop with this problem i'd just try to put something big enough behind it so that it would hold the screen.

obviously this makes it hard to transport somewhere else but its something at least.
