When you button a button-down garment, do you start buttoning from the top or from the bottom? Is there a more efficient way?

I just realised I have no recollection of how I normally put on such clothing, and would like advise from the EM community on this critical matter.

Top to bottom is clearly more efficient

i like to start at the middle, work my way up, then the rest at down, and then realize that there is one button missing, and then restart the process over and over and over until i die

UNLESS it's already partially buttoned up from the bottom
