With regard to the recent forum post in the Complaints thread, where yoyo's violation was completely worthy but discussion was opened, I feel it is time to make this thread.

"Any form of severe or excessive hate speech or hateful language based on race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, mental capabilities, and other personal circumstances.

Homophobic and/or racist views or slurs will however result in automatic violation."

This is now the wording for Hateful Comments.

What this does is encourage that automatic violations are no longer given, with the exclusion of homophobic/racist remarks. It is important that moderators view reports objectively and without bias, and are able to put personal views aside. I understand that this might come across as insensitive for some, however, our morals and beliefs are not the example by which we should be disciplining other people.

I advocate that moderators still urge people not to use such language as the R word, or C word, however if it is not excessive upon reading the context, then please do not issue violations. Verbal warnings may still be issued in cases where users have prior history should there be no exercised severity.

Please keep in mind that this is a mafia website, and it is a game which revolves around intelligence where people become tempramental. Just because a word is deemed a slur by some, it is not deemed a slur by everyone, and therefore the hateful connotations are not automatically exhibited.

If anyone requires further clarity over this rule, or would like to discuss things in more depth, then please feel free to leave a forum post. Bear in mind that I do understand that this rule may be dissonant for some of you, but please keep conversation as objective as possible.
