the whole slither.io reminded me of a game at dave and busters where it's like pacman but you're against other people and maybe you could change that up a bit and make it a huge multiplayer thing like agar.io and slither.io
how about instead of all that lag you make a character selection screen
the kids would love it.

a game of minesweeper that is online, each player can place down a few mines and the board is like 5000x5000+, you can do private games with friends and there is different abilities hidden in some squares. like maybe a free mine clear or to throw someone off you can change the numbers that appear when they click. it would have other little features but it is pretty much a online competitive minesweeper
There used to be a little device where you could scan barcodes and itd give you monsters, now we all have phones that scan stuff. theres a couple things like it in the app store i have not played any of them though.
