it really is unfortunate that a show revolving around fantasy medieval politics went from that to medieval walking dead

Forreal. It was avoidable, too. They actively chose to make 7 episodes even though they clearly had enough time to make 10.

I knew from the moment they blew up the Sept of Baelor and many of the key players that it would go downhill. The poltical intrigue was always the best thing about the show
they only did 7 bc the dragons and cgi is expensive

but that comes at the expense of much cheaper scenes, so that can't be it. And HBO makes so much money off it I'm sure they'd want a full season. Wasn't it purely the showrunner's decision?
