I do think harassment should be dealt with accordingly but if you just simply spout out a slur out of rage, because the OTHER person is being a straight up twat, I'm not sure how you are being punished because you were pushed to that point. I feel people are abusing the current HC rules we have right now and they are in need of a serious reform.
I mean come on, how insecure are you anyways to be offended by some random person typing to you "mean" words? Again, if someone is being annoying about it and spamming "" for example, then yeah ban that annoying twat.
Don't get me wrong, I do not think that cussing is "good", and this is not the point here. But occacionally cussing non personally to someone cus they are annoyed (hence they cuss once, get it over with and don't actually keep insulting) should never be punishable and is part of human nature, don't try to change the way humans work. Everyone at some point does that, can be a bad mood, can be that they dont actually think before typing and that is the end of the story. Banning people for minor things will cause more anger and frustration.
Best way to deal with it would be between the players, someone just have to explain eg; hey bro, I personally don't like when people cuss a lot, so could you stop doing that? Or are we gonna forget about interacting with each other like human beings and maybe solve it that way, IF someone is truly getting offended by it. Then explain it, if he doesnt wanna change the way he talks to you, then report him, after you have tried talking to him.
This is directed towards insecure people that try to get satisfaction, by fking someone over in game. Personally I would never ban someone for randomly cussing occacionally, unless it becomes personal and targeted. Why? Cus i dont think it is offensive? No, because I know the majority of the people reporting, only do that to get the satisfaction of getting someone banned, not because they are insulted in the least. I mean cmon, someone being overly rude for no reason, cleanse that from the game, I won't disagree. But someone just cussing calling someone a or asking someone to stfu here and there, is barely insulting, unless they target it to someone, try to be annoying, spamming it etc.
Additionally, people who falsely report someone gt out of grudge should be permanently fking suspended and ip banned. (would result in less reports too, and help the mods) /part 1
I've personally never heard of this, but some of the mods are put in awkward spots when they might not have deemed something HC but the rules dictate that they must rule it that way. Especially when someone who is reporting should just grow up or is obviously abusing the system.
I'd raise awareness to this problem actually, not here, because the thread isn't about that issue, though the rules should seriously be looked at because the limit our use of speech because of worry to offend someone.
Part of the reason why I have by and large stopped playing on here. People get offended too easily. Mods are so soon to lash out punishments. It sucks.
This is essentially what I'm talking about katiejane. Because this site has become so politically correct, you can't call people names or offend someone, because then you get reported for it. For speaking your mind or expressing discontent. Yet people can act like little children and ruin games for people but can't get anything done because they didn't say anything offensive.
