"Catholics accept a compact body of dogma and place it at the beginning of their reflections, [thus] they are sometimes able to devote themselves to systematic logical analysis, unburdened by any metaphysical details. "
"In 2008, during the American presidential election campaign, US Senator Hillary Clinton’s handlers began to get clumsy and she was seen in two different places at once on a number of separate occasions. And not just in Iowa and New Hampshire."
I'm sure that if you prepare yourself with these talking points you'll not only be the life of the party but also get invited to other events and find yourself becoming a regular socialite.
i can relate because i also used to have pretty weak social skills but i've greatly improved at parties/social gatherings by doing the following:
1. ask people questions about themselves. seriously, people love talking about themselves. it doesn't even matter what you ask. if you show interest in them, they'll think you're cool.
2. find common ground somewhere. seriously, the chances are that whoever you meet at the party will have at least one common interest with you. find it! if the person you meet plays the guitar, and you also play the guitar, you can have sick conversation for ages.
3. remember that no one cares about you. by that i mean that i mean even if you are super awkward and make a fool of yourself, everyone is so worried about themselves that they probably won't even notice/care.
just chill out and have fun! you'll be fine. and drink if you feel comfortable with it, but don't have too much.
BUT NOT ALWAYS, SOMETIMES I TALK TO THESE NERDS FOR A WHILE HAHA IM NOT A NERD DIDNT YOU HEAR IM A WILD BEAST I LITERALLY DID A DRUG ONCE YEEEEEEEE HAAAAWWWWWW
