use the pronoun "they" until someone either refers to themself as a gender or tells you what their gender is

No, it's been ingrained into me by religion actually. Anyway, you can't expect me, or any other heterosexual person when first meeting a person, to not refer to them as "she" if they think the person is a female, or "he" if they think they are male. What would you advise I do?

You have a point. At first I immediately assumed you were heterosexual, and I shouldn't have. But that will always happen. We live in a society where homosexuality isn't fully accepted yet, although it is on its way. So a heterosexual guy like me would first assume that another guy is also heterosexual. That's just how it is. Maybe one day it'll change.

i guess instead of preaching for the removal of conversion therapy, advocating for gay homelessness to be a socially acknowledged issue, or generally not speaking over other homosexual people, i am going to police gay poeple about how they use the word gay on the internet
