other uses of the ogi rule: if someone is doing something reportable in a game, u can't just simply correct them in game, as is sensible, but instead have to then sit through an essentially broken game waiting to report it
er, that's not true. you can say "if you do X, you're guaranteeing your loss" instead of "if you do X, you'll get reported"

alright, whatever. peace

yes, i too am swayed by the "we didn't know that playing literally every game together is against the rules also we totally only ever meta read each other" argument. it's a heart stealer.
playing literally every game together isn't against the rules, else i'd be two trophies short of what i am right now
i know, that second part is though
define "meta reading" someone
Hibikiabout 11 years ago
i'll get back to you on it, probably in another thread or skype

pranay's two examples were dumb and i have illustrated why. the ogi rule basically forces someone with knowledge of a person from other games to lie about that knowledge/conceal it

it literally breeds mafia tells of the town alignment
deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago
When two players have played together a number of times, one player may pick up on certain styles and attitudes the other player has depending on his role. If PlayerA tends to be more talkative as a town-sided role, but quieter and less involved as a mafia-sided role, if PlayerB, who had played with PlayerA several times before, begun to pick up on this inconsistency, this would be considered metagaming.

2- this player never kills this player- so he is confirmed not mafia- meta abuse- give ogi vio
if a player genuinely believes a player is so dumb he should never be nightkilled or has other legitimate reasons, he should be able to say that

4- i never say "IM TOWN" as mafia- my friend her can confirm it- meta abuse- give OGI vio
meta abuse is unnecessarily vague here, this is trust telling

6- player1@player2: Trust me ( player1 does this only when he is town while player2 is running for trophy). Player1 does not do this as mafia, so player2 easily knows he is mafia and uses it to win all games with player1--- meta abuse-- give cheating vio and suspend from round
more trust telling

do u agree that the ogi rule is dumb, dave?
no, there is a line that has to be drawn to prevent people from getting unfair advantages from things outside of the game
like what?

because like, gerryoats and lumincia are both allowed to trophy and their case is a lot more convincing than CocaCola's

Is CocaCola still banned / banned from trophying? If so he should probably be unbanned

those were pranay's examples of meta abuse, people accused zwink and gerry of meta abuse.

I'm saying pranay's examples of meta abuse were really just honest meta.
outlining the difference between what people were condemning them for and the definition of meta abuse was the entire purpose of this thread. how difficult is that to comprehend

None of these things were ever said in any of the games that Zwink's pastebin or gerry's pastebin had because this is common sense and most people know the difference already.
no one said zwink or gerry used honest meta. therefore, zwink and gerry didn't meta abuse. they did (or did not do) something entirely different

It's not as flat-out cheating as rolesharing, at least it didn't use to be. Honest meta would be certain phrases or things 'I only do as x alignment'. Either way, it's in the same branch and should (doubt it will, all of a sudden) be incorporated one way or another.
