Hi. Recently, I've felt that our current rules do not fit the current meta and playerbase, and are outdated in many aspects. I've been thinking about rewriting them in full, but I figured that a more open approach would allow for everyone to be more content if such a thing happened. I want to use this thread to talk about discrepancies in the system and how to appropriately fix or address them. I believe that the rules are not accessible enough based on website design alone and how they are handled. This leads to a lot of complaints that could be thinned down if people came together and defined the rules in such a way that can make everyone (mostly) happy. I want to use this thread as a placeholder and for people to be critical as much as they please with aspects of the report system also, and how we as a team could possibly improve it or get lucid to notice that it is in need of an overhaul. It's a very daunting task, but I want to believe that the people who spend their time in the complaints section, constantly riding on mods or problems with the site, finally will put their money with their mouth is.

The goal of this thread is to hopefully allow new and old users thoroughly understand the rules more clearly so the amount of reports diminishes and people have a more enjoyable experience.

Just remove the report system and the moderators.
no one will stop/prevent cheaters then
Why are you taking my post seriously...
Probably because it's a good suggestion.

I've always thought about an epicmafia where hosts were allowed to kick who they please therefore people could self-moderate their games but either way I'm gonna work on shortening the rules like I said I would and creating a topic and stuff after im done done going hxxxx listening to fugazi

its nearly impossible to see results in the mentoring system since most of it revolves around private games and the pm system. plus the system only works if mentees are active and want to learn.

basically everyone expected the mentor system to make new players better but you can only become better through real experience. I always thought mentoring should be limited to basic stuff like role mechanics, setup strategies, and whatnot because you can't truly teach someone how to scumhunt.

The only way report karma would ever work is that people with negative karma would not be able to file as many reports per day as someone with positive karma would be able to.

also adding a reward system to reports will make mods modding friends/enemies even more compromising to an already decently bad bias + consistency issue imo
deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago
hmmm
the incentive is only if users proper file a report however? if they file an improper one nothing happens, and obvious joke reports/grudge reports should decrease karma or perhaps land them a vio (which it seems to get you iirc?)
perhaps maybe have it so users with higher "report" karma have their reports focused on first?

then again, that's assuming lucid cares to fix stuff hawhrhawhrahwr

if you incentivize reporting people, reports will skyrocket, appeals will go up, and people will abuse the system more than it is (perceived as)
deleteddeletedabout 11 years ago
2 lazy 2 quote but punishing people for sincerely using the report system is an awful idea

I dunno how stupid this sounds, but could it be a benefit to create some kind of karma system within reports. ie for every correctly filed report, the player gains karma. For every incorrectly filed report, the player will lose karma. This would encourage people to stop filing petty grudge reports.

Edit: Just for clarification, this would be separate karma to profile karma.
yes please

a lobby dedicated to mentoring sounds annoying and pointless but that's just me
i think it was used once about this time last year. It had guyfawkes, bronto, and myself trying to get it active. It didn't have a single mentor helping though

Now that we have a new team of moderators, we can at least talk it out, instead of hearing complaints against our complaints.

Can we have our refunds back for red hearts? It's irritating enough to know that trolls are being rewarded for their efforts by making sure their side doesn't win.

Just recently, I had to suicide in a game because the remaining four people were actually GTing alts handled by one person who refused to play the game. Right now, the game is still in progress, but I got the names: AdmiralKirk, MafiaNoir, Locutus, and Luncheon. I would file a report on all four of them, but who knows when the hell that game will end or if I'll be able to find it again to even file a report?

Now that's a heart I won't be getting back.

the mentor program is in for a wild ride
Could you at least de-mentor .... well, everyone.
i'm not in charge of the program .. yet, i told shacky i'm just going to feel out the program, test the interface between mentor and mentee. See who on the team is actually active (no one) then see if anyone wants to mentor. If all that happens i'll give it a shot
