i've always wondered why mod appointment isn't bureaucratized so that individual mods are only handling report types that they're familiar with, comfortable with, and good at (division of labor?), rather than plunging everyone into this "jack of all trades" type deal where nobody's really happy because, while everyone is pretty much doing everything, the outcome is still shoddy and sub-par. then again, i know nothing about the system really. please feel free to call me a big idiot. i just think that a little specialization (i.e. simply determining which mods are really good at what and delegating tasks from there) might make everyone a little more comfortable with the status quo. i also think a little role pigeonholing in the authority structure might help with replacing bad mods, because then you'll only be looking for "x who is good at y," and not "x who is sorta okay at y and z." specificity of preference in turn will narrow down the candidates and filter out undesirables.
what i'm really trying to say here is that helsinki is a good mod

i've always said that mods who are bad at the game will be bad at modding since they don't get the basic mechanics of the game .
Mods who don't know that hipfiring is hamethrowing for example are often bad at the game and are bad at modding
Oh you mean to say that modding people that sucks at the game doesn't work, while moding people that DON'T SUCK AT THE GAME = a smoother site experience?
Bell and Bill are doing a great job, all the rest of you are mediocre and should just let Bill/bell handle it.
