it's not there to prevent fear killing it's there because that's how the role works. You hit the bomb any any point in the game you die.

That's to prevent fearkilling. Zhuorb was an obvious doctor target. He probably pissed himself when he rolled bomb.
Also, if you check the voting logs, the Guiser voted right at the end of the night. From memory it was about 3 seconds from the kicks, so I didn't have time to tell him to change. By contrast, the doctor chose Zhu in the first two lines of the night. That's how obvious a target he was.
Long story short: Don't let someone else pick the kills! Don't fear kill!
